Knowing your boat platform narrows the field quickly
Shimano uses super slow oscillation with this reel and the rising and falling of the spool is incredibly slow, creating tight coils of line
Named after the famous boat from JAWS, the Orca jerk bait is slightly past neutral buoyancy. With this you can reach great depths on structure, points, rocks, etc. with a consistent ripping action you can keep the 6.5 down 4 and the 8.5 down 8-10. For even further depths work the bait slower. For shallow presentations you can rip upward on the jerk bait, and it will continue to dive shallowly without blowing out of the water. Youll notice a minnow bait style action on the Figure 8. Youll notice in the design a wide back and V taper on these baits for excellent hook up ratio. In their season debut, clients boated 217 fish on the Orca. Enjoy these hand made and tested custom musky lures. The 6" Orca is 6 3/8" long and weighs 2.1 oz
At first the concept seemed genius, but when displayed on the screen, even though it was in real time, the fish and bottom structures were very distorted
If we were fishing on the bottom, there was one of these rigs and a bucket of chicken livers or some other frozen bait involved
Industry consensus positions them as capable for occasional sword trips and excellent for deep dropping goldens in 600 to 1,000 feet, grouper, and the broader deep-drop category
