Brooke House was originally a private hospital. The name of this design comes from one of its prominent owners in the 19th century: Dr. John Monroe. The pattern is based on a small piece of wallpaper discovered by English Heritage before the house was demolished in the 1950s. It was undoubtedly inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement and was used to provide a
